A model village library was opened in village Burail of the Union territory in October 1988 at a cost of Rs 2,5 Lakhs. A unique feature of this project was the donation of 1 kanal piece of land and also construction of a pucca building by the gram panchayat. This model village library has a good collection of latest books totalling 10,000 in all languages ie English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. It also includes reference books like encyclopedia Brittannica, year books etc. The total membership of the library is around 900. It subscribes to the following 15 newspapers and 22 magazines
